When an actor or an actress has spent many years appearing in a top British soap, such as Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale or Hollyoaks, it always comes as a surprise when they announce their decision to leave the show. All eyes are then on this star, to see whether their career will kick on and go to the next level or if it will fall flat and fail to reach the heights they had on the show.
Actress Michelle Keegan played the role of Tina McIntyre on Coronation Streetfor many years, before deciding to quit the soap and go on in pursuit of new acting projects. We have been waiting to see where Michelle would go next and the actress has admitted that she was very nervous about taking on her first role since Coronation Street, which sees her starring in the upcoming Ordinary Lives.
Keegan explained, "I felt there was so much pressure after leaving Corrie. I knew I had to make the right decision about my first role. Everyone was waiting to see what I did and getting ready to judge me if I made a mistake. I am really nervous about how it does in the ratings. I do feel a lot of pressure but I just hope it does well. But I know the producers and BBC are very happy with the outcome so hopefully the viewers will like it too."
As well as starring Michelle Keegan, Ordinary Lives boasts plenty of other Britishacting talent, including Jason Manford, Jo Joyner, Mackenzie Crook and Max Beesley. Ordinary Lives will air on BBC later in the month and the early reviews seem to hint that we could well have a hit on our hands. Watch this space!
