Why She Sizzles:  Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter is one of the most-respected, hardest-working actresses in Hollywood, yet she strikes us—and many of her fans—as genuine and down-to-earth. With her strong features and athletic figure, Hunter brings unconventional beauty to the strong and nuanced characters she portrays. She has admirably avoided being typecast throughout her twenty-seven year film and TV career, and continues to prove her staying power with her hit TNT drama series, Saving Grace.

When We First Fell in Love:  Hunter’s portrayal of baby-craving policewoman Edwina inRaising Arizona (1987) was surprisingly tender. We loved to hear her say “Fee-ance.”

Career Highs:  Ms. Hunter is brilliant, so she shines in everything she’s in. She won her Academy Award for playing a mute pianist in The Piano, for which she played her own piano pieces. She also taught costar Anna Paquin sign language. She’s a genius.

Career Lows:  We haven’t seen it, but we’re willing to bet Holly’s film debut The Burning wasn’t her best work.
“Work”: No. Hunter definitely hasn’t messed with her face. And it’s perfect just the way it is.
