The election for the Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) is planned to be held at the end of 2024. Even though it is still several months away, a number of names of potential candidates are starting to emerge on the surface to fight for seat 01 South Sulawesi. Most recently, the ARCHI survey institute has released the electability results of a number of candidates for Governor of South Sulawesi who are in the public spotlight.
Names that emerged in the survey include Deputy General Chair of the Golkar Party Nurdin Halid, former Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, Mayor of Makassar Danny Pomanto. Chairman of the South Sulawesi Gerindra Party DPD Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, former Mayor of Makassar Ilham Arief Sirajuddin. Regent of Gowa Adnan Purichta Ichsan, Chair of the South Sulawesi Nasdem Party Rusdi Masse Mappasessu, and Regent of North Luwu Indah Putri Indriani. According to the CEO of Archi Research and Strategic, Mukhradis Hadi Kusuma, the survey was conducted targeting approximately 850 respondents.Meanwhile, the sampling method used is Stratified Multistage Random Sampling or stratified random sampling. The survey was conducted during the period 8-13 January 2024. From the survey results, he stated that they also interviewed 47 men and 52 women. The majority of respondents were aged between 25 and 39 years, with the Islamic religion being the majority, and the highest level of education was from a high school/equivalent background. Mukhradis Hadi Kusuma revealed the results regarding the electability of several figures who are starting to stand out in the South Sulawesi gubernatorial election.
"Interestingly, if the incumbent Andi Sudirman Sulaiman runs, there will be two challengers," he said. This indicates that the conditions for the South Sulawesi gubernatorial election are more attractive, dynamic and intense in political communication at both the personal, party and community levels. Mukhradis also added that the figures appearing in this survey will likely continue to compete and compete in the South Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election, especially after the Legislative Election (Pileg). "And the names in this graph will probably continue to be included because after the legislative elections, of course these people will release their ammunition and political attractions to contest in November according to the PKPU if there has not been a revision in the Constitutional Court," he stressed.
