President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asserted that he would not issue Government Regulation in lieu of Law (Perppu) to annul Law No. 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK. One of the reasons is that the Constitutional Court (MK) still manages a lot of the material review process of the revised KPK Law.
In response, the Corruption Eradication Commission Spokesman Febri Diansyah could only surrender to President Jokowi. Because the issuance of Perppu is entirely the prerogative of the President.
"So, it is up to the President whether to choose to save the KPK and eradicate corruption by issuing Perppu or not," said Febri at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Friday (1/11).
According to Febri, the interfaith institution which is currently still led by Agus Rahardjo is currently focusing on minimizing the results of the new KPK Law which is really very influential on performance and only weakens the KPK.
"So we minimize the effects of damage or weakening that occurs in the revision of the law, which we do every day through the transition team," said Febri.
Previously, President Joko Widodo said it was not good to issue a KPPU Perppu, while the material testing process was still ongoing at the Constitutional Court.
"Do not exist, people who are still in the process, testing the material, then immediately overwritten with another decision. I think I have to know manners in being in a state, "Jokowi said at the Merdeka Palace, Friday (1/11)
