Balaroa National Housing in West Palu Subdistrict, Palu City, Central Sulawesi, became one of the most severely affected areas due to the 7.4 on the Richter scale earthquake on Friday 28 September 2018. Most of the buildings in the area collapsed into the ground.
It is estimated that only 30 percent of the 13,000 Balaroa residents survived the earthquake. The unstable land conditions at the Balaroa National Park make evacuation difficult.
Local authorities along with volunteers, are still evacuating victims in the Balaroa area. There are two heavy equipment vehicles to clean the ruins of the building.
