There are a lot of fantastic tennis players in the world these days but, while some of these players are happy to just win as many matches as they possibly can in their career, there are others who have much more ambition than that. Despite the fact that she is one of the most decorated tennis players in the game today, Maria Sharapova insists that she still wants to go on and win more titles and not just be happy to win a few matches here and there.
Sharapova explained, "I want to be able to perform my best from beginning to the end, and you're going to have challenges along the way. If you can't overcome it in the beginning, what makes you think you can overcome it later?"
She added, "When someone says you've won so-and-so matches in your career, you don't actually think about it when you're in the moment. But if you win the tournament or get to a certain benchmark and someone acknowledges it, it's nice to hear. You think of it as a bonus."
The next title that Maria Sharapova has the potential to win is at Indian Wells, where she will be playing over the next few days and weeks. Maria was fortunate enough to be one of those players to receive a bye through the first round but she would have to beat some big names if she was to take home the trophy again, with world number one Serena Williams likely to make it to thefinal.
