British actress Gemma Arterton has played some very interesting characters in a whole host of different projects over the years and now, in her new movie The Voices, the stunning star has a role as a talking head. Gemma has now opened up about playing the role, revealing just what it was that drew her to the role.
Arterton explained, "I'd been doing all of these big Hollywood movies and I hadn't really been feeling them. I like things that are a bit strange, a bit dark, that make you think. I read this script and just loved it. My character, I get to play just a talking head in the fridge. And that for me, was something I thought that I've got to do it."
As well as talking about her character in The Voices and what drew her to the role, Gemma Arterton also went on to talk about what fans can expect from the movie. Gemma says that, while the film has a lot of dark themes to it, there is still enough room for a little bit of laughter too.
Arterton added, "[Alfred] Hitchcock said that when people would laugh at his horrors it was the biggest compliment. This film is a horror in some aspects, because when you're so awkward and you've got too much emotion, often it comes out in laughter."
As well as starring Gemma Arterton, The Voices cast also includes Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick, and Jacki Weaver, among many others. The Voices is directed by Marjane Satrapi, based on the script from Michael R. Perry, with a release date set for March 20 in the UK
